UGO NESPOLO Vicenza 1941
Ugo Nespolo was born on the 29 th of August, in 1941 at Mosso Santa Maria (VC). He attended the Academia Alberina, then the Torino Faculty of Letters and Philosophy. The lively cultural climate of the mid-sixties favoured his artistic debut, which was characterised by his use of the puzzle.
His people, backgrounds, domestic and museum interiors, natural and urban landscapes are grotesque toys which fit perfectly into a play world, the essential artificiality of which is underlined by the techniques and materials he uses.
His first exhibition was in 1966 at the Galleria Il Punto in Turin. Many others followed, in Italy and abroad, as he gained prestige. Ugo Nespolo lives and works in Turin.
